Based on traditional Ojibwe animal paintings discovered in their reading, students create their own artistic renderings of the animals they feel represents them using vibrant colors and abstract shapes to interpret their characteristics. Using ancient Japanese marbling Suminagashi techniques, students collaborate to produce ink designs that they will transfer to paper from water and draw comparisons between water treatment/eliminating water pollution and lifting the ink.
