I moved to my aunt’s place this week. I had to move out of my apartment because of the situation we are going through. I packed everything from my apartment and studio in one and the half-day flew to my aunt’s place. I feel a safe and comfortable environment where my family is with me.
During this time, my family, friends and I went through a lot of mental stress. Being an international student, living in a strange place without family support made it hard for me to survive in this uncertain situation. I don’t enjoy moving place to place, because I like to be comfortable and connected to things and people as they are.
I think somehow this all working for me in favor because I am currently working on a painting series called fractured. Which talks about the disorientation, moving from place to place. It talks about finding a home in the place and having to leave it of course with a choice but losing the sense of home repeatedly. I want to talk about the feeling of having broken, paused relationships with the places and people because of constant transitioning from country to country.
My current move also giving me the feeling of loosing and leaving things behind. Because I am going through the experience that I am painting I think it will justify the emotion more accurately in the work.
Be safe. Take care.
